Wedding Boudoir Shoot

When I was in school, I was “that” girl.  The one who wore glasses and always had her nose buried in a book.  Answering questions in class thrilled me; the thought of going to dances terrified me.  So of course I was drawn to the classic “makeover” movie:  the nerdy girl who feels like she’ll never be accepted takes off her glasses, gets a makeover and suddenly everyone realizes how cool she was all along and she becomes the most popular girl in school.  Movies like Never Been Kissed, The Princess Diaries or A Cinderella Story.  Cheesy, yes, but comfort food for the teen age girl’s soul.

I couldn’t help but think of those movies when I did a boudoir photography shoot with Laurel.  She was referred to me by a friend because she wanted to do a wedding boudoir shoot for her fiance before their upcoming wedding.  We chatted while she was getting her makeup done and I learned she had a techie job.  She said she and her fiance were gamers and confessed to being a bit of a geek.  Think Comic Con.  She seemed a little nervous and when I asked her about it, she said “I’m afraid I’ll be awkward.”  And then we started shooting….  You know the moment in the movies when the makeover is done, the nerdy girl turns around and we see the “new” her?  That….

She brought her tiara that was going to be part of her wedding outfit:

As I mentioned, she and her fiance are gamers and she had the excellent idea to bring along her headphones and control set for props.  As the images for a wedding boudoir shoot are intended to be a gift, it can be fun to incorporate a hobby or activity you both share.  I’m absolutely sure this shots are going to blow his mind!
